Who is sketchier?

A pen name. Political cartoonists have published under pseudonyms for as long as the form has existed, usually for the reason you'd expect: the work targets people who retaliate.

You don't need to know who made a strip to run it safely. The CC BY 4.0 license gives you documented rights that can't be revoked. And the work is its own credential: every strip is in the Library and in the public archive, going back to August 2025.

What do I have to do?

Run the credit line with the strip. That's it. You don't need to sign anything, register, or tell anyone. Every strip's page has its credit line and a button that copies it, with working links when you paste into your CMS.

Can I crop or resize a strip?

Yes. The license allows changes. If you change a strip beyond resizing, say so in the credit line, for example “cropped from the original.” Please don't suggest that sketchier endorses your publication.

Can I run the essay too?

Yes, under the same license and with the same credit line. Each strip's page has the essay with a Copy button and a text download.

Can I download several strips at once?

Yes. In the Library, tick the strips you want, choose strips, essays or both, and download one zip file.

How big are the files?

Strips posted from September 2026 on are 1600 pixels wide. Earlier strips are 800 pixels wide. Both work well on the web. Each download button shows the exact size.

How do I get new strips?

New strips appear here within a day of posting, usually sooner. The newest is always on the front page. To get them the moment they're out, subscribe on Substack. It's free.
