The essay
This is an unusual Sketchier. Of course, these are unusual times what with Trump’s witless war creating such a satire-rich environment. So this time, the strip follows the essay.
Actually, three strips follow the essay: Collateral Damage, The Plan, and Know Your HistoryThink of it as a snarky buffet, albeit one about a very serious topic.
Too many lives have already been lost in this war, and more will die before it’s over. As our callous Commander in Chief put it, “that’s the way it is.” Nothing can or should diminish the sacrifices being made. Nor, as Collateral Damage points out, should we forget the other damage Trump is causing.
I didn’t come up with the formulation of the plan in The Plan. The author, who is using it on a protest poster, gifted it to me. Thank you. The sad reality is that this description of the plan is painfully close to the administration’s actual plan.
Finally, Know Your History is dedicated to friends who cite World War II anecdotes as frequently as Trump lies about the 2020 election.
