The essay
Who are you going to believe, Donald Trump or your wallet? The president says we’re Better Off, so I guess we’re better off. If you made it through the State of the Union address, you heard the whole Trumpian catalog. More precisely, the standard catalog. Which is good news for members of Congress. They could sleep through the speech and still know what to say on cable news. Lucky them.
But hey, at least he managed to further divide the country, ignore how much better off he and his family are under this Administration ($1.4 billion better according to the New York Times), and hand out a bunch of medals. So we’re all good, right?
