Extinction Event

What DJT and RFK Jr. are doing to America’s health is FU. What would they do differently if their goal was to make the country less healthy? Less prepared for the next pandemic? They’ve shut down research and testing and educational programs. They’re appointing conspiracy theorists and science outliers (and outright liars) to key posts. Historians will marvel at how many diseases this flock of numbed skulls brought back from the edge of eradication.

The latest evidence of RFK Jr.’s malfeasance, as Extinction Event points out, is making Dr. Ralph Abraham the CDC’s Principal Deputy Director—the number two position in the agency. Abraham had been Louisiana’s Surgeon General. In February, he banned vaccine promotion. After two infants died of whooping cough his department waited three months before issuing a public health alert, making possible the worst whooping cough outbreak in the state in 35 years.

At least Abraham is consistent in his deadly malfeasance. He has called COVID vaccines (the ones pushed through by the first Trump administration through Operation Warp Speed) “dangerous.” So yes, our public health is in the hands of fools and ideologues. If that gives you a headache, I’d normally suggest Tylenol, but RFK Jr. and his band of know-nothings would object.

While Extinction Event is dark, it does have a silver lining: it allowed me to introduce a new “character” to the Sketchier universe. The television set joins the team as a featured player. This means you’ll see it again; basically, whenever I can’t figure out how to get one of the stars to deliver needed exposition.
