The Essay
Pete Hegseth is a pompous blowhard. An empty suit with delusions of grandeur. He is an obsequious stooge who spouts a warrior aesthetic that is un-American and inhumane. He is arguably the least capable, most unqualified Secretary of Defense to hold the position in the past 100 years, and by a wide margin.
Yet this tough guy wannabe seeks to remake the U.S. military in a very un-American image. This is a diverse nation, but according to Hegseth its military should be white, Christian, male and above the law. Indeed, he has specific criteria for who belongs in the country’s armed forces. These quotations are from just one speech he gave on September 30, 2026:
“No fatties, no trannies, no beardos, no weirdos, no wimps, no radicals. Just warriors.”
“The ideological clowns are out. The patriotic cowboys are in, with testosterone testing on top.”
“Our department is, you might say, putting on the full armor of God, because while we wage physical war, we all know the real battle is spiritual.”
In February 2026, at the National Prayer Breakfast, Hegseth further burnished his Crusader ethos saying, “America was founded as a Christian nation. It remains a Christian nation in our DNA, if we can keep it. And as public officials, we have a sacred duty 250 years on to glorify Him.”
Last I looked, America had no official or favored religion. We may be one nation under God, but we’re all free to choose which God that might be. Or to choose none at all. But Hegseth doesn’t believe in the Constitution any more than he believes in international treaties.
Hegseth’s Warriors demonstrates that, based on the fool’s own criteria, Trump’s inner circle would be unqualified to serve in the country’s military. That includes the grifter-in-chief and convicted felon in the Oval Office, although Hegseth would never admit it.
