The essay
Trump spoke for 19 minutes about Iran. Or gas. Or something. In the annals of presidential speeches, this was technically one of them. It’s as if the speechwriters turned to the Gettysburg Address for inspiration, took the words “The world will little note nor long remember” and stopped.
The biggest news from the speech is that he didn’t nap in the middle of it. Same Old, Same Old points out that, as hard as it was to sit through, those who have to go out and praise it have an even tougher task. Of course, they deserve it. This is what they sold their souls for. And I’m not sure there’s enough flavored vodka out there to help them all.
