I’m not afraid to confront controversy straight on. In this case, the controversy of not addressing the controversy over eight Democratic Senators agreeing to vote with Republicans to reopen the government. Yes, I’m not addressing that one. Instead, I’m addressing the controversy of not addressing it. And to that I say, I couldn’t offer anything funny on the topic, so I choose not to address it. We clear on that? Back to Normal touches on the Democrats’ tendency to attack one another rather than their common foe. In this case, that would be the Orange Orbán in the White House—or at least in half the White House. However, to keep the color metaphors flowing, that was a red herring to distract from the Epstein files joke and how Trump is going to need a new distraction; which bodes poorly for Venezuela. Did you know that country’s largest export category is crude oil? And that crude oil is better known as black gold. My, what a colorful paragraph. Where was I?

Oh, yes. Back to Normal. Whether you support or condemn the eight Senators’ actions, the silver lining is that the House is scheduled to convene this afternoon (if you’re reading this on Wednesday) to deal with the shutdown compromise or sell-out, depending on your shade of blue. And that should mean that Adelita Grijalva will be sworn in to the seat she won back in September. She will then provide the 218th signature on the discharge petition. And that will result in a House vote concerning the Epstein files. Which means Trump must be ghost white in fear and that leads us back to Venezuela. And, well, by now you’re seeing red. So I’m done here.
