Something's Missing

This strip started off in a very different direction. I was intending to express my disgust with the venality of Republicans today. They protect pedophiles. They have institutionalized graft. Not to mention their support for a new American order of autocracy, oligarchy, and cruelty. So yeah, all that.

Maybe because the spinelessness of Trump’s enablers is too easy a target—or I’m not good enough to find the humor there—but that version just didn’t come together. Instead what emerged is Something’s Missing, perhaps the most wistful strip I’ve done to date. It simply points out what we’ve lost thanks to the Orange Orban and his sycophantic enablers. And how easy—and perhaps necessary—it is to sink to their level.

Or as Elise Mercado, the female character in this strip, so aptly puts, “sigh.”
