Inside the Administration

The last thing America needs is a Secretary of Defense who is a holier-than-thou religious zealot cosplaying as a Crusader. I’m delighted Hegseth has faith. As taxpayers, however, we don’t pay him to proselytize. We pay him to manage the Department of Defense. A task for which he is extremely unqualified. Something he proves every day.

At a recent Pentagon prayer service (because … Hegseth), he cited something very close to a quote from Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. Not surprisingly, it was a line of pseudo-scripture that the film’s character recites just before shooting someone. Because … Hegseth.

Someone who wears his religion like a pimp’s garish suit is either overcompensating or hiding something. Inside the Administration assumes Hegseth is covering up a lack of a soul. Similarly, the strip notes his strutting and pomposity are a sign he’s hoping no one notices that he set aside courage and dignity when he signed on with Trump. Of course, that was a price he was happy to pay because ... Hegseth.

As for the strip, it was fun imagining a show called “Inside the Administration” which takes its title literally. I’d watch just to see if there’s a thriving colony of vaccinated worms in his skull.
