The essay
On September 10th, at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Trump was introduced by a video that modified a speech by Paul Harvey about Farmers. The gist of the message is, America was a mess, so God created Trump to fix things. It was, to say the least, over the top. If there were a gold medal for narcissism, this video would have won.
It’s not the first time Trump has alluded to himself in Christlike terms. It won’t be the last. Some folks believe it’s calculated political positioning. I believe he’s convinced himself it’s true.
I also believe God would not approve. Which, as Touched imagines, might not work out all that well for Trump. I wouldn’t know, but I’m thinking it’s a thin line between touched and smitten.
